As I was heading towards the local VA hospital today for my pre-op COVID-19 screening prior to my shoulder reconstruction surgery in 2 days (if you can avoid the results-in-1-hour test where they reach back into your sinuses far enough to swab your pre-frontal cortex, I heartily recommend you do so!), I heard yet another excellent worship song on K-Love from Elevation Worship entitled “See A Victory“.

As I was listening, the Holy Spirit brought to mind a friend and fellow minister of the Gospel, Shannan Orr of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and strongly urged me to write this brief article including that song.

Who is Shannan?

I first became acquainted with Shannan through my now-ex-wife LeAnna back in the late 1980s. When LeAnna and I adopted our 3-year-old son Joshua, we had previously been expecting to adopt an older child and found ourselves completely unprepared and unequipped for a toddler — no child seat, no booster chair, no toys, nada! Shannan generously kickstarted our overnight transition to toddler parenthood by giving us desperately needed missing pieces of that puzzle. She also was Josh’s daycare provider for several months prior to LeAnna leaving her employer to become a full-time mom.

When LeAnna and I left the Tulsa area for another state, we lost touch with Shannan until she and I recently friended one another on Facebook and we caught up on what God has been doing in our lives over the last 25+ years or so.

Shannan is an anointed minister who has overcome a lifelong addiction to perfectionism and a shame-based, performance-oriented relationship with God. Her victory has led her into becoming a leader in her church’s women’s ministry, an international women’s conference speaker, and a published author. In my humble opinion, her excellent book, Shameless, should be required reading for all believers, especially pastors and those seeking to overcome depression and frustrations with their walks with God. As well as being a powerful minister and gifted author with a huge heart for the hurting, Shannan is also a talented artist who designed the cover for her own book.

Why This Article?

Recently, the devil has made a concerted effort to remove her message of freedom from the public eye by taking out the messenger. Shannan has had a history of chronic intestinal issues over the years and this recent bout has presented her with a diagnosis of inoperable and otherwise untreatable-in-the-natural cancer of the bowel. Prognosis? Terminal.

She has enlisted a valiant band of friends and supporters who are both encouraging her and praying for her supernatural healing, recovery, and complete restoration. I am humbled and privileged to be included in that Facebook group.

Accordingly, Tess and I have been praying for Shannan’s healing daily.

Shannan, this one’s for you!

See A Victory

Verse 1
The weapon may be formed, but it won’t prosper.
When the darkness falls, it won’t prevail.
Cause the God I serve knows only how to triumph!
My God will never fail!
Oh, my God will never fail!

Chorus
I’m gonna see a victory,
I’m gonna see a victory,
For the battle belongs to you, Lord!
(repeat 1x)

Verse 2
There’s power in the mighty name of Jesus!
Every war He wages He will win.
I’m not backing down from any giant,
‘Cuz I know how this story ends!
Yes, I know how this story ends!

Chorus
(repeat 2x)

Bridge
You take what the enemy meant for evil
And you turn it for good,
You turn it for good!
(repeat 5x)

Chorus
(repeat 2x)

Outro
You take what the enemy meant for evil
And you turn it for good,
You turn it for good!
(repeat 1x)

Call to Action

Christianity is a team sport. If Shannan’s story has touched your heart, please consider participating in one of the following ways:

  • For those of us who have a revelation of divine healing being God’s will and can/will believe for Shannan’s healing without reservation, I invite you to agree with us in prayer that she will live and not die, that she will be supernaturally raised from her bed of sickness and restored to complete wholeness physically.
  • For those of you still questioning God’s absolute willingness and ability to heal His children 100% of the time, please pray for Him to bless her and He’ll pick up the slack.
  • Anyone who feels moved to contribute financially to offset Shannan’s sudden mountain of medical bills, please contact me through the comments and I will get you the necessary information.

And Shannan, we’ve got your back!

Thanks for reading!

UPDATE: Tragically for all of us who remain — and happily for Shannan! — she went to be with the Lord about 10 days after this article was written. Why she did not receive her healing here on earth is an unfathomable mystery this side of glory. However, her untimely graduation does not change what the Bible clearly states concerning divine healing one iota. I know that if Shannan was here to weigh in on this today, she would agree!
