Just this last Easter, I heard this song for the very first time playing over the PA at the church we’ve been attending. I was so taken by it, I immediately went up to the nearest speaker and asked Siri to ID it for me, which then I immediately purchased.
Written and performed by a husband-wife team called Pennel, I was blown away by two aspects of this selection:
- The power of the message. This is truly a rock anthem for our current age, a call-to-arms for the Body of Christ to stand up for the Gospel no matter what it may cost us! And, may I add, that cost is growing exponentially by the day, even in the USA. Tragically, there are many who will not pay that cost to their eternal detriment.
- The power of the music. Pennel’s musical style bears some similarities to that of Lindsey Sterling and stands completely apart from the insipidness and same-song-different-lyrics pablum of the typical pop music airing on Christian radio. IMHO, the only other Christian band demonstrating this kind of out-of-the-box uniqueness and creativity these days is We The Kingdom of Holy Water fame.
Here it is for your listening enjoyment and spiritual edification.
Enjoy and be blessed!

Yes To The Cost
Verse 1
The Son of Man in agony
He cried out, “Take this cup from Me
And not My will, let Yours be done
Not My will, let Yours be done”
The choice would cost Him everything
The weight of sin poured out on Him
And not my will, let Yours be donePre-Chorus
He counted the cost
That all the world would know this love
And now my response
Is my yes and once and for allChorus
I say “yes” to the cost!
I say “yes” to the cost!
I say “yes” to the cost!
I say “yes!”
And I say “yes” to the cost!
I say “yes” to the cost!
I say “yes!”Verse 2
The fear of man is drowning now
The fear of God has filled my soul
I cannot be silent, no
I will not be silent, no
A passive life I will not live
Awake my soul to burn again
I cannot be silent, noChorus
Bridge
And we are the sons and the daughters of thunder
We are the ones who will carry revival
And we give our lives for the sake of the Gospel
No compromise, for the cost has been settled
(repeat 1x)Interlude
It’s settled
We say “yes” to You, Jesus!
I say “yes”
Here we go!Chorus (3x)
Outro
And I say “yes” to the cost!
I say “yes” to the cost!
I say “yes!”
